Storm Fall Short in Tight Road Battle at Harding

Southern Nazarene drops a 50–47 decision after late push in Searcy

SEARCY, Ark. - Southern Nazarene fought hard on the road Saturday afternoon but came up short in a close 50-47 loss at No. 11 Harding University.

The Crimson Storm (7-12, 7-8 GAC) battled from the opening tip at Rhodes Reaves Field House and kept the contest tight throughout. SNU carried a 31-24 lead into halftime thanks to gritty defense and balanced scoring. Southern Nazarene trimmed the gap in the third quarter and continued to battle down the stretch, but a late surge from HU proved just enough to secure the three point win. Harding (18-3, 12-3 GAC) leaned on efficient scoring in the second half, outscoring the Storm in the third and fourth quarters to pull ahead.

The Bisons took advantage of key buckets and made enough plays down the stretch to hold off SNU's comeback attempt.

Carley Gasaway paced Southern Nazarene with a team-high 15 points, going 5-of-10 from the floor and hitting 5-of-8 from three-point range. Halyn Browning added 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, while Nessa Begay chipped in 6 points with 6 rebounds.

Southern Nazarene shot 33.3 percent from the field and hit all six of their free throw attempts, but Bisons balanced scoring and timely buckets helped Harding secure the 50-47 victory in Searcy.
