Crimson Storm Drop Home Contest to Oklahoma Baptist

Southern Nazarene leads at halftime, but Bison surge in second half to secure road win

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene fell 70-61 to Oklahoma Baptist Thursday evening in a Great American Conference matchup at the Sawyer Center.

The Crimson Storm (7-13, 7-9 GAC) and Bison (11-11, 7-9 GAC) traded blows throughout the first half, with SNU taking a narrow 28-25 lead into the break after a tightly contested opening two quarters. Both teams battled through multiple lead changes, setting up an intense second half.

Oklahoma Baptist surged in the third quarter, outscoring the Storm 22-14 to seize control of the game. The Bison continued to build their advantage in the fourth, using efficient shooting and key defensive stops down the stretch to secure the road victory.

Nessa Begay led Southern Nazarene with a team-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting while adding five rebounds, providing a strong spark off the bench. Halyn Browning contributed 12 points behind four made three-pointers, and Boston Berry added seven points in the effort.

The Storm finished with 21 made field goals and 13 free throws while generating 14 points off turnovers, but Oklahoma Baptist's 61.5 percent shooting in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference.
