BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm opened their series on Friday afternoon against Southeastern Oklahoma State, dropping the series opener 21-6 at home.
Southern Nazarene (4-12, 0-7 GAC) jumped out early but couldn't hold off a late surge from Southeastern Oklahoma State (9-5, 5-2 GAC) in the series opener.
The Crimson Storm struck first in the opening inning when
Josh Bay blasted a solo home run to left center to give SNU a 1-0 lead.
After Southeastern tied the game in the second, Bay delivered again in the fourth with his second solo homer of the afternoon to push the Storm back in front, 2-1.
The Savage Storm responded in the fifth with a two-run single to take a 3-2 lead and added another run in the sixth to extend the advantage to 4-2.
Southern Nazarene answered in the seventh with a four-run rally.
Dominic Garcia drove in two with a single,
Cade Ross followed with an RBI base hit, and a groundout brought home another run to even the score at 6-6.
Southeastern quickly regained control in the eighth with back-to-back home runs to move ahead 9-6 before erupting for 12 runs in the ninth inning to pull away for the 21-6 victory.
Bay led the Storm at the plate with two home runs and two RBIs. Garcia added two RBIs, while Ross recorded two hits and an RBI in the loss.

Southern Nazarene will return to the field Saturday, February 28 for a noon doubleheader against Southeastern Oklahoma State to conclude the three-game series.
