SNU Drops Midweek Contest Against the Bulldogs

SNU Tallies 14 Runs, but Bulldogs Use Big Innings to Pull Away

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm wrapped up a midweek single-game matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon, falling in a high-scoring contest at home, 28-14.

Southern Nazarene (4-11, 0-6 GAC) battled offensively throughout, but Southwestern Oklahoma State (10-7, 2-4 GAC) used multiple big innings to pull away late. Southwestern jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run homer, but the Storm answered in the bottom half when Josh Bay lifted a sacrifice fly to score Cade Ross and cut the deficit to 2-1.

SNU grabbed momentum in the second and third innings. Ross delivered an RBI single to tie the game before a wild pitch gave the Storm a 3-2 lead. In the third, a three-run home run from James Bodine highlighted a five-run frame that pushed Southern Nazarene in front 8-5.

The Bulldogs responded with a six-run fourth inning to retake the lead at 11-8 and never looked back. SWOSU continued to pile on with seven runs in the fifth and eight more in the sixth to extend the advantage.

Southern Nazarene continued to fight offensively. The Crimson Storm plated three runs in the fifth behind RBI singles from Jaxon Gless and Bay, then added runs in the sixth and seventh, including an RBI triple from Ryder Scheibelhut and late hits from Braydan Salinas and Scheibelhut.

Ross led the Storm with three hits and two RBIs, while Kane Springer paced Southern Nazarene with a four-hit performance, adding an RBI and a run scored. Scheibelhut recorded three hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Josh Bay and Jaxon Gless each drove in two runs.
