Crimson Storm Defends Home Court, Downs No. 20 Tigers

SNU bounces back with statement win over Ouachita Baptist, 73-60

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene used a strong start and a dominant effort on the glass to secure a 73-60 victory over No. 20 Ouachita Baptist Thursday night inside the Sawyer Center.

The Crimson Storm (18-7, 12-7 GAC) controlled the contest from the opening tip, never trailing and building a 34-24 lead by halftime. SNU's defensive pressure set the tone early, holding the Tigers (20-5, 16-3 GAC) to just 25 percent shooting in the first half and limiting second-chance opportunities.

Southern Nazarene continued to dictate the tempo in the second half, pushing the lead to double digits and maintaining separation down the stretch. The Storm knocked down 15 free throws in the final 20 minutes and finished 25-of-30 from the line to keep Ouachita Baptist from mounting a comeback.

Baron Bracey delivered a showstopping performance, pouring in 23 points while grabbing a career-high 18 rebounds. His 18 boards move him into third all-time in single-game rebounds in program history.

Malik Edwards added 11 points and five assists, while Bam Johnson chipped in 12 points and knocked down a three-pointer. Colby Henderson provided a steady presence with 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists, and Tracy Godfrey Jr. also reached double figures with 10 points.

As a team, the Storm dominated the glass, out rebounding the Tigers 48-30, including a 15-9 edge on the offensive boards. That effort translated into 15 second-chance points and a 24-10 advantage in points in the paint.

Defensively, SNU held Ouachita Baptist to 25.5 percent shooting from the field and just 30 percent from beyond the arc. The Storm forced 15 turnovers and converted them into 14 points, while also recording four blocks and six steals.
