Southern Nazarene Drops Tight Contest to Tigers

East Central holds off Storm comeback in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene came up just short in a defensive battle Monday evening, falling 56-52 to East Central in the Sawyer Center.

The Crimson Storm (8-14, 8-10 GAC) and Tigers (13-9, 9-9 GAC) traded momentum throughout the night, with neither team able to create much separation in a tightly contested four quarters. Southern Nazarene led after the first period and carried that edge into halftime before East Central surged ahead with a strong third quarter.

SNU mounted a late push in the final period, trimming the deficit to a single possession in the closing seconds, but the Tigers converted key free throws down the stretch to hold off the comeback attempt.

Jillian Crawford paced the Storm with a team-high 12 points, adding three rebounds and two assists while battling inside all game.

Hannah Duncan provided a strong presence off the bench, finishing with nine points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from the field, including two three-pointers, along with seven rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

Braci Nyberg contributed seven points and three rebounds, while Shannon Burton and Halyn Browning each added six points to round out the scoring effort for Southern Nazarene.

The Crimson Storm finished with 19 made field goals and controlled the paint with 32 points inside, but struggled from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line in the closing minutes as East Central secured the 56-52 victory in Bethany.
