Crimson Storm Comes Up Short at Oklahoma Baptist

Boston Berry scores career-high 22 points in road contest

SHAWNEE, Okla. - Southern Nazarene's women's basketball team battled on the road Thursday night but ultimately dropped an 81-73 decision to Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference action.

The Crimson Storm (5-10, 5-6 GAC) came out strong in Shawnee, keeping the game close throughout and battling for every possession. SNU stayed within striking distance early, trailing the Bison (8-9, 4-7 GAC) 31-36 at halftime thanks to balanced offensive contributions and gritty defense.

Oklahoma Baptist made a few key plays after the break to build momentum, outscoring the Storm over the final two quarters and pulling away late. The Bison leaned on efficient scoring from their top players and took advantage of free throw opportunities down the stretch to secure the eight point win.

Boston Berry led the way for Southern Nazarene with a career high 22 points, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor and going 4-for-8 from three point range. Jillian Crawford and Jordan Hoffman each finished with 8 points, with Crawford knocking down key shots in the paint and Hoffman contributing from the free throw line. Nessa Begay added 14 points, and Halyn Browning chipped in 11 points in support of the offensive effort.

Southern Nazarene shot 41.0 percent from the field and made 78.3 percent of their free throws, but Oklahoma Baptist's balanced scoring helped the Bison secure the 81-73 victory in Shawnee.
