Career night from Begay helps SNU grab 84–83 road win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Southern Nazarene pulled out a thrilling 84-83 overtime victory over Ouachita Baptist Saturday afternoon in a hard-fought Great American Conference matchup at Bill Vining Arena.

The Crimson Storm (5-9, 5-5 GAC) and Tigers (9-5, 6-4 GAC) battled back and forth from the opening tip, with neither squad able to build more than a slim lead through the first four quarters. SNU trailed by a narrow margin late in regulation before rallying behind key baskets to force overtime in a nail-biter. 

In the extra period, Southern Nazarene seized control with timely offense and clutch free throws, edging the Tigers by a single point to secure the hard-earned road win. 

Jillian Crawford led the Storm with a team-high 18 points, going 7-of-15 from the field and knocking down two triples while contributing four rebounds in 45 minutes of action. 

Nessa Begay turned in a career performance, pouring in a career-high 17 points to go along with one rebound, providing a consistent offensive spark throughout the game and into overtime.
Shannon Burton added 12 points and two assists, the SNU balanced attack featured contributions from across the roster, with Boston Berry chipping in 10 points and Jordan Hoffman adding 10 as well. 

The Crimson Storm finished the game with 30 made field goals and 17 made free throws, tallying 21 points off turnovers and forcing multiple stops down the stretch to help secure the 84-83 win In Arkadelphia.

The Crimsons Storm will now travel down the road to Shawnee, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday, January 22 at 5:30 pm.
