Crimson Storm Drop Road Contest to East Central

East Central defeats the Storm, 3-1 in Ada

ADA, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped a hard-fought road contest Tuesday night, falling 3-1 to East Central in Ada.

The Crimson Storm (4-10, 0-3 GAC) battled throughout the evening, but the Tigers (4-12, 3-1 GAC) held off SNU in four close sets handing the Storm their third straight GAC loss.

Kate Wright paced the Storm with 12 kills to go along with 16 digs, while Riley Richardson added 8 kills and Jaidyn Reid chipped in 6. Setter Brelee Mauldin directed the attack with 30 assists, and libero Megan Branson anchored the defense with a team-high 22 digs. Reid also turned in a standout all-around effort with 21 digs, three blocks, and three aces, while Hannah Morgan provided a spark from the service line with four aces.

In the opening set, SNU worked to stay within striking distance fending off  ECU's offense. Wright and Reid found early kills to keep the Storm close, but the Tigers capitalized on errors and used a late push to separate, taking the frame 25-18.

Southern Nazarene responded in set two. Strong serving runs and late defense pushed the Storm to a 26-24 win, evening the match at one apiece. The third set turned into a thriller, with both sides trading points deep into extra play. Despite timely swings from Wright and key stops at the net, ECU snagged a 29-27 victory to reclaim the lead.

The Storm kept the pressure on in the fourth, holding close throughout behind Mauldin's distribution and steady back row play from Branson and Reid. However, ECU managed to close the set 25-23 to seal the match.
