BETHANY, Okla. - Keshon Carter was attracted to Southern Nazarene University because of its strong Christian beliefs and its emphasis on creating well-rounded people. "I wanted to play men's soccer so I could develop my skills and be with an encouraging group of people we call family; the way we bond and fight with each other wanting to obtain the same goal is flawless," he said.
For Keshon, being a student-athlete carries a deep responsibility. "Representing SNU's basic principles on and off the field, striving for outstanding achievement in competition, and maintaining a high standard of academic proficiency are all requirements for being a student-athlete."
A defining moment in his time at SNU came when the men's soccer team secured the GAC regular season in 2024. "It was a must-win match against Newman in the final regular season game, and the boys stuck together and fought for ninety minutes to win. It taught me the importance of determination and working together to overcome adversity."
Keshon shared that his time here has been transformative for his faith as well. "As I've learned to balance the demands of soccer and my studies with God's guidance, my faith has grown stronger at SNU, serving as a constant reminder of the value of faith in every part of life."
He's especially grateful for the people who have shaped his journey. "My teammates and coaches have played a significant role in my personal development by offering support, friendship, and guidance, as well as influencing how I view leadership and teamwork in both the game and in real life."
When asked about donors, Keshon wanted them to know the impact they make. "Your contribution immediately improves our athletic experience by enabling us to achieve our goals and make memories both on and off the field."
Looking to the future, Keshon is confident that SNU has prepared him well. "By teaching me principles of discipline, community, and faith, my time at SNU will equip me for life after graduation and serve as a guide for all of my future endeavors, both personally and professionally."
