Storm Swept in Searcy

Harding takes both games on Friday to finish the series sweep over SNU

SEARCY, Ark. - Southern Nazarene wrapped up their three-game series against Harding University on Friday afternoon with a doubleheader that saw the Bisons take care of business at home, grabbing two more wins and completing the series sweep over the Crimson Storm.

Game 1
Harding (34-12, 21-9 GAC) came out hot in the first game of the day, getting on the board early with a 2-0 lead. The Bisons kept the pressure on, tacking on three more in the third inning to stretch their lead to 5-0.

SNU( 9-37, 3-27 GAC) broke through in the fifth when Blake Brinkmeyer came up with a big RBI single through the right side to bring home Antonio Sabala and get the Storm on the board. That would be all the Storm could manage offensively in the doubleheader opener.

Harding responded right away with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and later added two more in the eighth to lock up a 9-1 win in game one of the doubleheader.

Game 2
In the series finale, Harding once again wasted no time getting on the board, plating two in the bottom of the first to set the tone.

The Storm tried to find a spark in the third as Aiden McCullough led off with a single to right, but SNU couldn't keep the momentum going. After a foul out and a lineout, McCullough was caught stealing at second to end the inning.

Harding added another run in the third, and from there, they kept it going, pulling away to take the final game of the series with an 8-0 shutout.

With the two wins on Friday, Harding secured the series sweep over Southern Nazarene.

Next Up
The Storm will return to Feland Field for a single game against Southeastern Oklahoma State on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:00 pm.
