Crimson Storm Claim Doubleheader Sweep Over Arlington Baptist

Southern Nazarene picks up a pair of non-conference wins against the Patriots

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm took the field at Bethany High School for a matchup under the lights with Arlington Baptist. The Storm cruised past the Patriots collecting the doubleheader sweep Thursday night.

Game 1

Southern Nazarene (25-17, 14-9 GAC) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after RBI singles from Kristen Mullendore and Marlee Warden put the Storm in front 2-0.

Kelsi Hilton got the start in the circle for the Crimson Storm handing the Patriots (7-18, 0-0) another scoreless frame in the second. SNU continued tacking on the runs in the bottom half of the inning after Hailey Evans drove in another run to extend the Storm lead to three. Liana Heshiki followed with a two-run single pushing the lead to 5-0.

Ciena Perez kept the scoring going with an RBI single up the middle to plate Kenedi Morelock to give the Storm a comfortable 6-0 lead after three innings of play. Ashley Larson took over in the circle for the Storm, but ABU finally made their way on the board after a wild pitch.

The Patriots were able to add one more run to their score after an SNU error plated one more. Kinley Brand finished things off in the circle for SNU holding Arlington Baptist scoreless as the Crimson Storm took the 6-2 game one victory.

Game 2

The Storm got on the board first once again after Maddie Southerland singled in a run to give SNU an early 1-0 lead. Katelyn Woodard got the go in the circle for Southern Nazarene dominating the Patriot hitters.

Both squads were quiet offensively until the fourth inning as the Patriots tied the score after a Storm error. The Crimson Storm struggled to find their response until the fifth inning after an ABU error gave SNU a 2-1 lead.

The floodgates opened in the sixth as the Storm put together an eight-run inning capped off by a walk-off home run from Kristen Mullendore to secure the 10-1 run-rule victory over the Patriots.
