BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene kicked off their series against Southwestern Oklahoma State with a doubleheader at Feland Field, but the Bulldogs took both games to secure an early series lead.
Game 1
A hot start from Southwestern Oklahoma State (11-7, 4-6 GAC) set the tone for the opening game as the Bulldogs plated two runs in the first inning. They kept the momentum going with another run in the third, stretching their lead to 3-0.
Southern Nazarene (6-14 , 2-9 GAC) got things rolling in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo shot from Antonio Sabala that put the Crimson Storm on the board. Blake Brinkmeyer drew a bases loaded walk to bring in a run, making it a 3-2 ballgame.
The Bulldogs responded immediately, racking up three runs on five hits in the fourth inning to widen the gap to 6-2. They did not slow down, tacking on three more in the fifth inning to push their lead to 9-2.
The Crimson Storm made a late push in the sixth inning after a two run double from Sabala, but SWOSU scored one more in the eighth inning of the game and took the 10-4 win over the Crimson Storm in game one.
Game 2
The second game was a much tighter contest as both teams battled back and forth.
SWOSU took the lead first in the second inning, scoring a run on two hits to go up 1-0.
Southern Nazarene responded quickly in the bottom of the inning as Weston Hicks was hit by a pitch, and Ryan Talley drove him in with a double, tying the game 1-1.
The Bulldogs took the lead back in the fifth inning with a run to go up 2-1 and added another in the sixth inning to push their lead to 3-1. Their pitching held the Crimson Storm scoreless the rest of the way, sealing the win.

The Crimson Storm will return to Feland Field to finish their series with Southwestern Oklahoma State. They will take on the Bulldogs on Sunday, March 9 at 1:00 pm.
