SNU Falls to SWOSU in Series Finale

Bulldogs finish the series with a 14-8 victory over the Storm

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene wrapped up their three game series against Southwestern Oklahoma State as the Bulldogs came out on top, securing a 14-8 win and taking the series sweep at Feland Field.

The Storm (6-15, 2-10 GAC) came out swinging early, looking to set the tone in the first. After Antonio Sabala took one for the team and got hit by a pitch, Weston Hicks doubled to left to put two runners in scoring position. Colby Flood then singled up the middle to send Sabala and Hicks home, giving the Crimson Storm a quick 2-0 lead.

SWOSU (12-7, 5-6 GAC) wasted no time firing back in the second inning of the game, taking advantage of walks to push across four runs and grab a 4-2 lead.
The third inning got rough for the Storm as the Bulldogs stayed hot, racking up six more runs on five hits to stretch their lead to 10-2.

Southern Nazarene did not  let the deficit get to them. In the bottom of the third, the Storm started to get some momentum. Brady Benedict got it going with a single up the middle before Tanner Bare came through big time with a three run single to center, cutting the score to 10-5.

The Bulldogs, however, weren't ready to give up control. They tacked on three more runs in the seventh inning and another in the eighth to push their lead to 14-5.

SNU showed some late fight in the eighth and ninth innings. Cade Ross laid down a bunt single and Ryan Talley came in as a pinch hitter immediately getting hit by a pitch to keep things moving. Sabala came through with a sac fly to score Ross, making it 14-6.

The Storm made one final push in the ninth inning of the game. Hicks got hit by a pitch to get on base and Jaxon Gless kept things rolling with a double to right. Flood followed up with a single to bring Hicks home and Gless later scored off a double play, cutting the lead to 14-8.

SNU kept fighting to close the gap, but SWOSU stayed in control and came away with the 14-8 win, locking in the series sweep over the Crimson Storm.
