Crimson Storm Secure Sweep Over the Reddies

Southern Nazarene sweeps the Reddies in walk off fashion

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm finish their series with the Reddies in walkoff fashion to claim the series sweep over Henderson State in Bethany.

Game 1

The Storm (19-13, 10-7 GAC) got on the board first after Maddie Southerland and McKayla Franks each drove in a run to give SNU an early 2-0 lead in the second.

Janie Worthington kept the Reddies (15-15, 5-12 GAC) offense quiet, handing them a handful of scoreless innings. The Crimson Storm struggled to tack on more runs until an RBI single from Hannah Morales sent one run home. Hailey Evans followed with an RBI single of her own to extend the SNU lead to 4-0 after six innings.

The Reddies were not done yet, as they blasted a solo home run to take away Worthington's shutout in the top of the seventh. Worthington finished off HSU, securing the 4-1 victory and the series for the Storm.

Game 2

The Reddies looked to avoid the sweep by getting on the board in the top of the first to lead 1-0 early. They continued to tack on the runs with a solo home run in the third to extend their lead to 2-0.

The Crimson Storm offense struggled to find a response, but the Reddies continued to dominate at the plate. Henderson State sent two more home runs over the fence to push their lead to 4-0 after four innings.

Southern Nazarene found their response in the bottom of the sixth after Kristen Mullendore singled in two runs to cut the deficit to two. Franks kept the scoring going, sending a two-run shot deep to tie the score up heading into the seventh.

Jentry Henderson continued to keep the HSU hitters quiet forcing extra innings to be played. It was not until the ninth inning that the Storm was able to break through after another clutch at-bat from Mullendore sent the winning run home to secure the 5-4 victory and the series sweep in Bethany.

Next Up
