Storm Come Up Short in Final Day of the UCO/OC Classic

SNU falls to No. 9 Rogers State and No. 25 Central Oklahoma in Edmond

EDMOND, Okla. - The Crimson Storm finished off the UCO/OC Classic with No. 9 Rogers State and No. 25 Central Oklahoma. The Southern Nazarene struggled to find their offensive footing, dropping their final games in Edmond.

Game 1
It was a Central Region Tournament Finals rematch as the Crimson Storm (5-5, 0-0 GAC) went head-to-head with the Hilcats (6-3, 0-0 MIAA). RSU wasted no time getting to Maddie Southerland on the mound as they drove in two early runs off a single and a double to right.

Southerland settled in, handing Rogers State a scoreless frame in the second. The SNU offense looked for a response but struggled to find one as Hillcats pitcher Jade Sanders held them hitless.

RSU tacked on another run in the third thanks to a sac fly to extend their lead to 3-0. They plated two more in the fourth on a solo home run and another sac fly to lead 5-0 after four.

The Crimson Storm finally notched a hit in the top of the sixth thanks to a single from Peyton Norvelle. The Storm was unable to take advantage as the Hillcats kept them off the board once again.

The Storm shut down the RSU offense, but could not find the response they needed in the seventh inning, falling 5-0 to No. 9 Rogers State.

Game 2
The Crimson Storm went head-to-head with host Central Oklahoma (7-1, 0-0 MIAA) in their final game of the weekend. Ashley Larson got her first start of the season in the circle for the Storm as she held the Bronchos to just one run in the first.

UCO tacked on another two runs in the second off of a two-run double to extend their lead to 3-0. Larson shut down the Bronchos offense after that, keeping them off the board for the remainder of her outing.

The SNU offense struggled to bring a run home as they loaded the bases in the sixth after a few singles and a UCO error. The Bronchos shut down any chance of a Crimson Storm comeback in the seventh, retiring the side to hand SNU a 3-0 defeat.

Next Up
The Crimson Storm will host the Raising Canes Festival February 14-16 as they meet up with Nebraska-Kearney, Northeastern State, Fort Hays State, Washburn, and Missouri Southern.
