Storm Battles in Bolivar

SNU takes game one with a late comeback, but SBU responds in game two

BOLIVAR, Mo.  - Southern Nazarene finished off their four game series against Southwest Baptist with a Saturday doubleheader. The Storm had a great comeback in game one to snag a 4-3 victory but couldn't find the same magic in game two, falling 6-1 against the Bearcats.

Game 1

SNU started off steady, getting on the board in the second inning after Ryan Talley doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Aiden McCullough. The Bearcats answered right back in the bottom half of the inning, tying things up at 1-1.

Southwest Baptist kept the pressure on, adding runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 3-1 lead heading into the final inning. The Crimson Storm was not done yet as they came alive in the seventh inning of the game. Carson Kinnaird led off with a walk, and then Talley delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit to one.

A Bearcat error kept the rally going, before Weston Hicks came through clutch, ripping a two run single to push the Crimson Storm ahead 4-3. That late surge was all SNU needed, as they locked down the final outs to secure the comeback victory.

Game 2

SNU wasted no time getting on the board in the nightcap, with Antonio Sabala doubling in the first and Weston Hicks driving him in with a single to put the Storm up 1-0.

However, that early lead didn't last long for the Crimson Storm. Southwest Baptist exploded for four runs in the third inning, taking control of the game. They tacked on two more in the fourth, stretching their lead to 6-1. SNU tried to rally, but the bats just weren't clicking, and the Bearcats held on to split the doubleheader and take the series 3-1.
