Crimson Storm Take Game 1 Over SE

Southern Nazarene take down the Savage Storm in Bethany, 5-3

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm made their season debut at Tere Webber Field as they hosted the Savage Storm of Southeastern Oklahoma State for game one of their three-game conference series. SNU was led by another dominant outing from Janie Worthington as they defeated SE, 5-3.

Southeastern (7-10, 0-4 GAC) got to Worthington early after a two-run single put them in front. The Crimson Storm found their answer in the bottom half of the inning after a three-run shot from Hailey Evans to give SNU the lead.

Liana Heshiki followed suit with a solo bomb of her own extending the Southern Nazarene lead to 4-2 after just one inning of play.

Evans came through once again, belting a double to the centerfield fence to plate Kenedi Morelock. This pushed the Crimson Storm lead to 5-2 going into the third.

Worthington continued to keep the SE offense at bay, but a pinch-hit RBI single from Jazzy Rios plated one Savage Storm member in the fifth to cut the SNU lead to two.

The SNU defense and Worthington finished off the Savage Storm claiming the series opener 5-3 in Bethany.

Morelock was unstoppable at the plate leading the SNU offense with four hits in four at-bats. Evans was also an offensive spark driving in four runs on two extra base hits. Worthington collected her third win of the season after matching her career-high of 12 strikeouts.
