SNU Falls to ECU in Midweek Matchup

SNU battles early but falls short against East Central's big offense

ADA, Okla. - Southern Nazarene hit the road for a midweek non-conference matchup against East Central University. The Storm looked to pick up a midweek win, but the Tigers came out on top, taking a 13-5 victory.

The Storm (5-10, 1-5 GAC) wasted no time getting on the board in the top of the first inning. Ryan Talley and Weston Hicks each reached base with a walk before Talley stole third and scored on a throwing error by ECU (3-11, 1-5 GAC), giving SNU an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers quickly answered back in the bottom half of the inning, tying things up at 1-1.

SNU responded in the second inning, retaking the lead thanks to a two run single from Antonio Sabala, driving in Cade Ross and Will Thetford. The Storm led 3-1, but that momentum didn't last long. In the bottom of the third East Central added a run, cutting the Storm's lead to 4-2.

It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth that the Tigers really took control. ECU erupted for five runs on three hits, taking the lead, 7-4. From there, they never looked back, adding two more runs in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-4.

Southern Nazarene wasn't going down without a fight. In the top of the seventh inning, the Storm fought back, scoring a run after a bases loaded walk by Aiden McCullough, making the score 9-5.

East Central responded with four more runs in the bottom half of the inning. With the score in their favor. The Tigers ultimately cruised to a 13-5 win over the Storm.
