Storm Drops Extra Inning Heartbreaker

SAU breaks the tie with an eight-run 10th to take the win

BETHANY, Okla. - It was a battle to the wire as Southern Nazarene and Southern Arkansas took game three of their series into extra innings. The Muleriders broke loose in the tenth, securing a 15-7 win over the Crimson Storm and taking the series 2-1.

The Muleriders (8-6, 4-2 GAC) wasted no time getting on the board, with a run in the second inning before adding three more in the third for an early 4-0 lead.

Southern Nazarene (5-9, 1-5 GAC) responded in the fifth with Weston Hicks sending a two run shot over the left field fence, cutting the deficit in half. But just as the Storm gained momentum, SAU responded with a three run sixth inning, stretching their lead to 7-2.

Southern Nazarene did not back down, answering with a four run rally in the bottom half of the inning. Antonio Sabala sparked the comeback with a two run single, while Hicks and Tucker LeMay each drove in a run to bring the Storm within one.

Brady Benedict launched a solo shot to right center in the seventh, evening the score at 7-7.

Neither team could break the tie in the eighth or ninth, sending the game to extra innings. In the tenth, SAU's offense came alive, piling on eight runs to put the game away and secure the victory over the Crimson Storm 15-7.
