Reddies Hand Crimson Storm Fourth Straight Loss

Crimson Storm comes up short in overtime thriller, 86-62

ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Crimson Storm took on the Reddies in Arkadelphia in an overtime thriller as Henderson State was able to defeat SNU 86-82. This marked the Storm's fourth straight loss.

Stevie Strong led both teams offensively as he recorded a season-high of 38 points, just shy of his career record of 40. Although a standout performance from Strong, the Storm (18-6,15-5 GAC) was unable to weather the Reddies (16-10,12-8 GAC) in an overtime thriller.

Henderson wasted no time jumping out to a quick 11-3 lead over SNU to begin the contest. The shots continued to fall for the Reddies as they extended their lead to 23-5. The Crimson Storm began their comeback as Strong and Baron Bracey teamed up for a pair of triples to cut into the HSU lead.

Southern Nazarene continued to string points together as Bam Johnson and Strong went back-to-back for three to cut the Henderson State lead to 28-23. Strong continued to shoot the ball well from three-point range from the arc as he drained another triple to put SNU within one.

The Reddies closed out the first half at the charity stripe as they knocked down two shots to lead 38-35 at the break.

Henderson maintained their lead to begin the second half as they knocked down a three to go alongside a dunk. The Crimson Storm went to work in the paint slowly chipping away at the HSU lead.

Another three from Strong put the Storm within two. Johnson followed suit, hitting another three to get the Storm bench fired up. The Reddies maintained their lead before Jeremy Golson hit three to tie the score at 63-63 with 6:26 left to play. SNU continued their momentum taking the lead thanks to a couple of free throws from Strong.

The two teams traded points for the final minutes before Bracey drew a foul with less than a second left on the clock. Bracey hit one of the three free throws he was awarded, sending the contest to overtime.

The Reddies utilized their home court advantage taking the lead to begin the overtime period and never looking back. The Crimson Storm was unable to get back in front, ultimately falling to HSU 86-62.
