Crimson Storm Claim GAC Regular Season Title With Victory Over NWOSU

Southern Nazarene takes down the Rangers in the Sawyer Center, 71-57

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned to the Sawyer Center for their final home game of the 2024-2025 season as they hosted Northwestern Oklahoma State. Southern Nazarene clinched at least a share of the GAC Regular Season Championship after defeating the Rangers, 71-57.

The SNU (19-6,16-5 GAC) defense found their groove again forcing 16 NWOSU (13-14,10-11 GAC) turnovers and collecting 12 steals on the night. The Crimson Storm was also nearly perfect from the charity stripe knocking down 12 of 13 free throws in the contest.

The two squads traded points from the jump, but a pair of threes from Stevie Strong and a steal alongside a bucket from Bam Johnson put the Storm in front early. Colby Henderson got in on the scoring with a pair of buckets in the paint before Strong notched another three extending the SNU lead to 19-11.

The Crimson Storm continued to pour in the points, maintaining their lead after a layup from Timur Krupalija. Baron Bracey then made his way to the free throw line picking up another two points before Jeremy Golson knocked down his first three of the contest to give SNU a 31-22 lead with 1:31 left to play in the first half.  Each team collected a few last minute points, but the Storm remained in front at the break, 33-24.

The Rangers rattled off nine early second half points to cut the SNU lead to three. The Storm remained in front, but a three and a layup from Northwestern tied the score at 40-40. Southern Nazarene then went to work going on an 11-2 run to take back their lead.

James Burries and Tracy Godfrey Jr. teamed up for a pair of buckets in the paint before a three from Bracey pushed the SNU lead to 62-49. The Crimson Storm took over from there and never looked back, cruising to a 71-57 victory over the Rangers to claim the GAC Regular Season Championship.
