Crimson Storm Cruise Past Blossoms

Hoffman leads the way as Browning scores a career-high in SNU’s 74-57 road win

MONTICELLO, Ark. - Southern Nazarene stayed perfect in conference play on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Arkansas-Monticello 74-57 to move to 2-0 in the Great American Conference.

The Crimson Storm (2-4, 2-0 GAC) came out firing, putting together a dominant first half that ended with a 30-22 lead. Southern Nazarene kept its foot down the rest of the way, stretching the margin and never letting the Blossoms (5-3, 0-2 GAC) get back within reach.

Jordan Hoffman set the tone with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, knocking down three threes while adding three assists and two rebounds as she guided the offense all afternoon.

Halyn Browning stepped up, scoring a career-high 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three while pulling down seven rebounds and giving SNU energy on both ends of the floor.

Boston Berry added 10 points and two steals, and Jena Bay chipped in nine more to round out SNU's balanced attack.

The Crimson Storm shot 42.9 percent from the field but did its biggest damage from three-point range, draining 14 triples at a 53.8 percent clip. The Storm also went 12-of-14 at the line and forced Arkansas-Monticello into mistakes, turning 23 points off turnovers.

Behind the efficient offense and steady defensive pressure, SNU never trailed and controlled the matchup start to finish.
