Southern Nazarene Falls Short on the Road Against East Central

Despite a competitive outing, SNU is unable to overcome East Central’s late momentum

ADA, Okla. - Southern Nazarene dropped their road contest at East Central University on Thursday night, falling 55-49 to the Tigers.

The Crimson Storm (2-5, 2-1 GAC) battled throughout but couldn't complete a comeback in the second half, as East Central (5-2, 1-2 GAC) held firm down the stretch to earn the conference victory.

Southern Nazarene got a strong night from guard Hannah Duncan, who led the Storm with 11 points on efficient shooting 5-of-6, adding six rebounds in the effort. Jillian Crawford also contributed with 9 points and four rebounds, while Boston Berry scored 10 points and knocked down four free throws. Halyn Browning also chipped in 8 points off the bench.

The Crimson Storm struggled from the field overall, connecting on 29.8% of shots and hitting just 4 of 17 three point attempts. The Storm did convert at the free throw line 11-of-15 but weren't able to sustain enough offense against East Central's balanced attack. SNU also tallied 15 points off turnovers and saw 20 bench points in the contest.

East Central shot 40% overall and used a couple timely runs to stay in control late in the second half. SNU kept chipping away, cutting the lead down in the fourth, but ECU held on with just enough late scoring to seal the 55-49 finish.
