Crimson Storm Fall 67-55 to No. 19 Northwestern Oklahoma State

SNU battles back in the second half but unable to overcome early deficit against the Rangers

ALVA, Okla. - No. 19 Northwestern Oklahoma State used a strong home performance to earn a 67-55 victory over Southern Nazarene on Thursday night.

The Rangers (10-1, 5-0 GAC) set the tone early, building a 41-25 halftime lead and maintaining control throughout the second half. Southern Nazarene (3-6, 3-2 GAC) battled hard but was unable to overcome the early deficit.

Southern Nazarene struggled to keep pace after the opening quarter as Northwestern Oklahoma State shot efficiently from the field. The Rangers were led by Tori Reilly, who scored a game-high 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds. Two other NWOSU players finished in double figures with 10 points each, while Alexis Johnson added nine points, helping the Rangers hold control for the remainder of the game.

For the Crimson Storm, Lexi Mackey led the way with a career-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Braci Nyberg added nine points, hitting three three-pointers, and Jillian Crawford also finished with nine points. Southern Nazarene shot just 36.2% from the field and made five threes in the contest.

After trailing by as many as 16 points in the first half, Southern Nazarene showed fight in the second half and cut into the lead, but Northwestern Oklahoma State answered with timely baskets and defensive stops down the stretch to secure the 67-55 victory.
