Southern Nazarene Opens 2026 With Home Win Over Southeastern

Crimson Storm defeat the Savage Storm 80–70 in the Sawyer Center

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene opened the new year with a strong home win on Saturday afternoon, taking down Southeastern Oklahoma State 80-70 inside the Sawyer Center.

The Crimson Storm (4-6, 4-2 GAC) set the tone early and stayed in control throughout, holding off the Savage Storm (3-9, 0-6 GAC) to earn their first win of 2026 in front of their home crowd.

Carley Gasaway led SNU with a team-high 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers to pace the offense. Braci Nyberg added 13 points, while Jillian Crawford finished with 11 points to give the Storm three players in double figures.

Shannon Burton had a big day off the bench, scoring a career-high 11 points on perfect shooting, providing a huge spark for SNU. Halyn Browning rounded out the scoring with nine points and four rebounds as the Storm showed strong balance across the lineup.

Southern Nazarene shot 41 percent from the field and connected on 10 three-pointers, while also going 20-of-28 from the free throw line. The Storm's ability to convert at the stripe and get timely stops proved key in the second half.

After building momentum through the middle quarters, SNU stayed composed down the stretch, using clutch baskets and solid defense to secure the 80-70 victory in the Sawyer Center.
