Storm Take Down Bulldogs in Sawyer Center

Southern Nazarene pulls away after strong second quarter

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene bounced back Saturday afternoon, knocking off Southwestern Oklahoma State 70-57 at the Sawyer Center.

After a slow start in the first quarter, the Crimson Storm (3-5, 3-1 GAC) turned things around with a huge second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-7 to take control of the game. SNU then held off Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-6, 1-3 GAC) through the second half to secure the conference victory.

Jordan Hoffman led the Storm's offense with 13 points, shooting 4-of-8 from the field and going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Halyn Browning added a strong all-around performance with 13 points, including three made three-pointers, and six assists. Boston Berry chipped in 10 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Jillian Crawford and Hannah Duncan contributed seven and six points, respectively. Jena Bay also knocked down a couple of key buckets, finishing with nine points.

SNU shot 44.1% from the field and hit 7 of 26 three-point attempts, while converting 11 of 15 free throw tries. The Storm also got contributions across the board with 34 bench points and 16 points off turnovers, helping maintain momentum throughout the second half.

Southwestern Oklahoma State struggled to keep pace after the first quarter, shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 3-of-18 from three-point range. The Bulldogs were outscored in the paint and could not overcome SNU's big second quarter and balanced offensive effort, as the Storm maintained control through the final three periods.

After trailing 15–7 after one quarter, SNU outscored the Bulldogs in each of the final three periods to pull away and earn the conference win.
