Storm Win Battle With Missouri Western

SNU Men's Basketball secures their third victory this season

BETHANY, Okla. — No. 20 Southern Nazarene returned to the Sawyer Center on Wednesday night and delivered another statement performance, outlasting Missouri Western 82–79 to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Crimson Storm (3-0, 0-0 GAC) relied on their defense once again and a top notch performance on the glass to fend off a Griffon (3-2, 0-0 MIAA) squad that refused to go away. Despite a cold perimeter shooting night, SNU's physicality and second-chance efforts paved the way to its third straight victory.

Baron Bracey once again set the tempo, pouring in 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting while hauling in a team-high 11 rebounds. The senior guard attacked well, earning trips to the line and providing steady buckets whenever SNU needed to halt a Missouri Western run.

Bam Johnson followed with another efficient outing, tallying 18 points and knocking down eight of his 11 attempts from the floor. Tracy Godfrey Jr. was a force inside, adding 15 points and 10 rebounds as he and Bracey combined for a dominant 21 boards.

SNU battled to a 43-43 halftime score thanks to timely scoring in the paint and a defensive stretch that slowed the Griffons' hot start. After the break, Missouri Western continued to push, fueled by Noah King's 25-point night, but the Storm answered every punch.

Key plays off the bench proved essential once again for SNU. Aaron Potter provided a crucial spark with 14 points, including a pair of threes and a perfect 6-of-6 effort at the stripe. James Burries added seven points and a triple of his own, helping to keep the momentum in SNU's corner.

Colby Henderson battled for six rebounds and a block, helping the Storm maintain control in the closing minutes. SNU's defense came up big when it mattered most, forcing tough shots and limiting Missouri Western to just 36 second-half points.

In the final minute, steady free-throw shooting and one last defensive stand allowed Southern Nazarene to close the door and secure the 82-79 win inside the Sawyer Center.
