Bisons Snap Crimson Storm Win Streak

No. 23 Southern Nazarene comes up short in Searcy, 75-55

SEARCY, Ark. - The Crimson Storm hit the road to take on host Harding for a Thursday night matchup. The No. 23 ranked Storm was unable to keep up with a hot Harding offense, falling in Searcy 75-55.

The Harding (9-4,5-2 GAC) offense dominated, shooting 52.2 percent from three and 43.8 percent from the field taking any chance of a Southern Nazarene ( 9-2,6-1 GAC) victory away. The Bisons held the Storm to just 22.2 percent from three and 41.4 percent from the field making it difficult for SNU to find its groove offensively.

The Bisons got on the board first with a layup, but SNU took over from there. A 6-0 run gave Southern Nazarene the lead and some early momentum before Harding responded with a  run of their own to tie the score.

Baron Bracey responded with a three to put the Storm back in front. The Bisons continued to rally this time going on a 7-0 run to take back control. The two squads battled from there as Colby Henderson hit a pull up jumper to put SNU within two, 17-15.

Harding continued to shoot it well from the field extending their lead to 31-19 with 7:58 left to play in the first half. Stevie Strong stopped the HU run with a three putting SNU back within nine. The Bisons continued to dominate another 7-0 run before Strong knocked down another three with just under two minutes left in the first half.

Another jumper for the Bisons pushed their lead to 15, but Strong continued to shine for the Crimson Storm offense notching one final bucket for SNU in the first half. Harding got the last offensively with a layup to lead Southern Nazarene, 42-27 at the break.

The Crimson Storm looked to even the score quickly, cutting the HU lead down to eight after layups from Bracey and Jeremy Golson. James Burries followed with a tip in to cut the deficit to six. The Bisons continued to knock down shots from three point range helping them maintain their lead.

Harding tacked on a few more buckets to go ahead 60-48, but the Storm looked to chip away. A layup from Strong got the Crimson Storm back on the board, but the Bisons responded once again, knocking down a three.

Southern Nazarene struggled to find its footing offensively as the Bisons had no issue at all taking advantage of a pair of buckets from the charity stripe and another jumper to lead 70-20. Strong knocked down yet another three trying to give SNU some sort of spark with 3:39 left to play.

Bam Johnson notched a bucket to cut into the Harding lead, but it was not enough as the Bisons buried one final three to hand the No. 23 Crimson Storm their first GAC loss of the season, 75-55.
