Storm Takes Down UAM for Sixth Straight Win

Storm Defeats Arkansas-Monticello 60-39

MONTICELLO, Ark.- Southern Nazarene Women's Basketball kept the wins coming Thursday night, taking down Arkansas-Monticello 60-39 for their sixth straight victory.

In the first quarter SNU (14-5, 11-2 GAC) Hannah Giddey got things going with a jumper, then went right back to work in the paint, scoring three straight layups. Jena Bay kept the momentum going with a layup of her own before knocking down back to back threes. By the time the quarter ended, the Storm was up 16-5, and UAM (9-10, 4-9 GAC) was struggling to keep up.

Arkansas-Monticello tried to get something going in the second quarter, but SNU's defense wasn't letting that happen. Carley Gasaway and Hannah Duncan had a couple of steals, and Jillian Crawford hit a jumper to keep the Crimson Storm rolling. Gasaway had a three, Giddey got another layup, and Katie King went back to back in the paint to help the Crimson Storm take a 32-19 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter Giddey scored four layups, then added two fastbreak buckets. Bay and Hoffman set up assists, and Duncan had a fastbreak three to push the lead to 50-35 going into the final quarter.

SNU kept control in the fourth quarter, with King and Giddey staying aggressive while Nyberg added to the scoring. The defense shut down any chance of a Blossoms comeback while Giddey capped off the night with a final jumper as SNU secured their eleventh conference win.
