Crimson Storm Dominate Day 1 of Branson Leadoff Classic

SNU picks up two shutouts to begin the 2025 season in Branson

BRANSON, Mo. - The Crimson Storm opened up the 2025 season at the Branson Leadoff Classic in Branson, Missouri. The Storm met up with Southwest Baptist and Drury in their first contests of the season as they picked up two wins on the first day of the season.

Game 1
The Crimson Storm took on the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist for their 2025 season opener in Branson. Katelyn Woodard got the ball to begin the contest giving up just one hit in the first frame of play. The bats wasted no time coming to life for SNU as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second after a triple from McKayla Franks and an SBU error.

Emma Swearingen kept the scoring going in the third inning with a double that scored Britlyn Tripp and Hannah Wolfe. Woodard continued her work in the circle leaving SBU scoreless through three. Kenedi Morelock fueled the offensive fire for the Crimson Storm with a single through the left side to score Emma Green and Peyton Norvelle extending the SNU lead to 6-0.

The Crimson Storm bats continued to run the show after a six run fifth inning. Kristen Mullendore started things off with a triple of her own while Hailey Evans blasted a three run shot. Ashley Larson finished things off in the circle for the Storm as they grabbed the run-rule victory, 12-0, over the Bearcats.

Game 2
Olivia Hernandez got the nod as she dominated in the circle handing the Panthers a three up three down first inning. Kristen Mullendore got things going for the Storm offense after she singled up the middle. She then stole second, helping Hannah Wolfe reach home, giving SNU a 1-0 lead in the first.

Hernandez continued to keep Drury off balance at the plate helping the Storm hold their 1-0 lead. A pinch hit double from Eden Anderson plated Kelsi Hilton to get the Crimson Storm back on the board in the fifth. Evans and Liana Heshiki followed with a pair of doubles plating two more run to extend the SNU lead to 4-0.

The Storm kept the bats going in the sixth as Emma Swearingen blasted a solo shot to push the lead to 5-0. Hernandez finished off the Panthers in the seventh to earn her first win of the season after just allowing one hit.
