SNU Storms Past Southeastern Oklahoma State

Crimson Storm secures 10th Conference Win

BETHANY, Okla. - Southern Nazarene women's basketball kept things rolling in the Sawyer Center, grabbing their tenth conference win of the season with a 59-48 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State. It also marked the Crimson Storm's fifth win in a row.

Hannah Giddey was at it again, notching her tenth double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

In the first quarter SNU (13-5, 10-2 GAC) came out strong, with Umi Otsuka kicking things off by sinking a three pointer, thanks to a Giddey assist. Otsuka and Giddey kept the pressure on with a layup and jumper, while Jordan Hoffman added a layup of her own off an assist from Katie King. Hannah Duncan joined the action with a three-pointer, assisted by Braci Nyberg, helping the Crimson Storm close the first quarter up 12-7, as Southeastern (12-6, 9-3 GAC) struggled to find their rhythm against SNU's defense.

In the second quarter the Crimson Storm built on their lead as Otsuka stayed hot with a jumper in the paint. Nyberg then tipped in a bucket and Giddey added two layups. Jena Bay hit a jumper and Giddey capped the quarter off with another fastbreak layup, assisted by Otsuka. By halftime, Southern Nazarene was firmly in control, leading 30-14.

The Crimson Storm did not let up after the halftime break. Hoffman started the third quarter with a layup off a Giddey assist, and Giddey followed with one of her own, thanks to Otsuka. Duncan had another three-pointer, assisted by Giddey, and the duo connected again as Giddey scored another bucket. Jillian Crawford joined the three-point party, nailing one with an assist from King. By the end of the quarter, SNU held a 49-36 lead.

In the final quarter, Southern Nazarene kept their lead intact. Carley Gasaway knocked down a jumper, and Bay drained another three pointer with Crawford setting her up. SNU held off Southeastern the rest of the way, finishing with a 59-48 win and securing their tenth conference win of the season.
