Crimson Storm Knock Off Southeastern

Southern Nazarene takes down the Savage Storm in Bethany, 72-60

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm took on Southeastern Oklahoma State in a battle of the Storms inside the Sawyer Center. SNU continued their dominance in the GAC improving to 11-1 in conference play after a 72-60 win over SE.

Stevie Strong and Tracy Godfrey Jr. led the Southern Nazarene (14-2,11-1 GAC) offense, combining for 43 points on the day. The Crimson Storm defense shined once again forcing 16 Southeastern (6-12,4-8 GAC) turnovers.

James Burries got the offense going early as he drained a three to put SNU on the board first. The Savage Storm responded quickly taking a 6-5 lead. Back-to-back layups from Godfrey Jr. put SNU back in front. Southeastern continued to have a response for every SNU point before they snagged the lead once again.

A layup from Timur Krupalija and a tip-in from Colby Henderson tied the score at 17 all. The two teams traded points from there before Godfrey Jr. and Strong teamed up for a pair of buckets to give Southern Nazarene a 27-23 lead.

Baron Bracey and Krupalija each notched a bucket in the final minutes of the first half. Southeastern tacked on a late three to cut the SNU lead to 31-26 at the halftime break.

Strong opened up the second half with a statement three and a layup. Godfrey Jr. tacked on another layup and drew a foul completing the three point play to stretch the Crimson Storm lead to 41-26. Jeremy Golson got in on the scoring knocking down a three to extend the SNU lead once more.

The Crimson Storm continued to pour in the points as Golson and Strong each added another three to their stat line. Southeastern attempted to slowly chip away, but SNU took advantage of the charity stripe as Strong and Godfrey Jr. picked up a few more points.

Bracey kept the offense going with a layup giving Southern Nazarene a 68-53 lead with 2:32 left to play. Strong knocked down another pair of free throws and Bracey collected one final bucket as SNU took a 72-60 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
