Bison Brought Down in Bethany

SNU secures ninth conference win with 63-56 victory over OBU

BETHANY, Okla. -  The Southern Nazarene (12-5,9-2 GAC)  women's basketball team came out on top in a hard fought game against Oklahoma Baptist (12-5,8-3 GAC), grabbing a 63-56 win for their ninth conference victory of the season.

Hannah Giddey was unstoppable once again, notching her ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. She set the tone early, scoring the first basket of the game with a layup and dishing out a couple of key assists to keep the Crimson Storm rolling.

Katie King and Hannah Duncan also added some big buckets in the first quarter, including a fastbreak jumper and a deep three-pointer, keeping the game tied at 18 after the first quarter ended.

In the second quarter, the Storm took the lead. Giddey stayed active in the paint, while King and Jordan Hoffman added to the scoring with a few layups. Umi Otsuka showed off, knocking down a pair of jumpers to help SNU take a 34-31 lead into halftime.

The Bison weren't going down without a fight, though. They came out strong in the third quarter, but Giddey stepped up on defense with a big block to keep the Storm in front. Braci Nyberg grabbed the rebound, and King added another jumper to maintain SNU's slim lead heading into the final quarter, 46-43.

The fourth quarter was where SNU sealed the deal. Giddey continued to dominate in the paint, scoring on back to back layups thanks to assists from King and Otsuka. Jena Bay knocked down a clutch three, and King followed with a three of her own to stretch the lead. The Bison kept fighting, but the Storm held on and took the 63-56 win.
