Crimson Storm Tame the Tigers in Bethany

Southern Nazarene offense dominates as they take down Ouachtia Baptist, 80-71

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm took on the Ouachita Baptist Tigers for a weekend matchup inside the Sawyer Center. Southern Nazarene continued to dominate offensively taking an 80-71 victory over the Tigers.

Four Crimson Storm (12-2,9-1 GAC) members saw double-digit scoring as they put the pressure on the Tigers (11-5,6-4 GAC) defense. The SNU offense took advantage on the offensive boards as well with a total of 21 second chance points.

Southern Nazarene wasted no time as they jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead thanks to the three point shooting duo of Stevie Strong and Jeremy Golson. The scoring continued for the Storm as Tracy Godfrey Jr. and Strong went to work in the paint.

Ouachita slowly began to chip away as they knocked down a three and a tip in to cut the deficit to two. Baron Bracey got in on the three pointers knocking down one of his own to give SNU some more momentum.

Golson continued to make the Tigers work as he knocked down another three and drew a foul completing the four point play to push the SNU lead to 23-12. Ouachita responded, going on a 7-0 run to cut the Storm lead to four. A pair of three pointers from Strong kept the SNU offense going with just under four minutes left in the first half.

The Tigers were able to string together a few more buckets, but Golson remained hot from beyond the arc knocking down another three to push the Crimson Storm lead to seven. Each team got in one final bucket, but SNU remained in front 38-32 at halftime.

Strong continued to set the tone for the Storm offense to begin the second half as he knocked down another three. Godfrey Jr. notched a few more points in the paint to keep SNU in the lead. Colby Henderson and Timur Krupalija each added a bucket in the paint as well before Bracey hit another three to give SNU a 59-51 lead.

Henderson and Strong made their way to the charity stripe with perfect trips to help the Crimson Storm push their lead to 12. Southern Nazarene continued to dominate at the foul line as Strong made a handful of trips before Bracey made a trip for himself. The duo was perfect at the line giving the Storm a 75-61 lead.

A few more free throws were all it took for the Storm to finish off the Tigers as they grabbed the 80-71 victory inside the Sawyer Center to pick up their ninth GAC win of the season.
