Crimson Storm Cruises Past Reddies

Storm offense shines defeating Henderson State, 92-67

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned to the Sawyer Center for a matchup with Henderson State. The Southern Nazarene offense was brilliant as they cruised to a 92-67 victory over the Reddies.

Stevie Strong shined for the Storm (11-2,8-1 GAC) as he put up 34 points on the evening. He helped lead SNU to a stellar shooting night as they shot 56.9 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. The Crimson Storm defense also shined, collecting 32 boards and forcing 17 Reddies (11-4,7-2 GAC) turnovers.

SNU got on the board first after a made three from Jeremy Golson. A few layups from Henderson gave them an early lead, but Stevie Strong and Golson teamed up for four straight threes to put SNU in front 17-9.

The Reddies slowly began to chip away at the Crimson Storm lead but another three from Strong held the SNU lead at five. The Storm then went to work in the paint as Timur Krupalija and Bam Johnson each notched a bucket.

The Crimson Storm began to pull away after a layup from Colby Henderson and a few free throws from Golson put them in front 33-24 with 5:39 left to play in the first half. A 6-0 run from HSU put the Reddies within three, but Baron Bracey knocked down a jumper to extend the SNU lead back seven. Strong got the final say of the first half as he hit a jumper and a half court shot to put the Storm in front 44-35 at the halftime break.

The Southern Nazarene defense went to work to begin the second half forcing four early turnovers leading to an HSU timeout. The Storm continued to shoot it well and Bracey knocked down a three before the Reddies responded with one of their own.

Golson kept the scoring going as he tacked on another three to his stat line giving SNU a 62-47 lead. Henderson State kept chipping away at the foul line, but the SNU offense continued to roll. Strong and Golson each continued to add to the Crimson Storm lead from the charity stripe, extending the SNU lead once again.

Southern Nazarene began to take over as Strong found Krupalija for a dunk that got the Sawyer Center on their feet with just two minutes left on the clock. Each squad snuck in a final few shots, but the Crimson Storm captured the victory in Bethany, 92-67.
