Storm Compete in Fayetteville

SNU cross-country battled in the Chile Pepper Festival

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. - The Southern Nazarene University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas Saturday afternoon to compete in the Chile Pepper Festival hosted by The University of Arkansas. 

Many teams across NCAA Division l and Division ll competed at the event including a few teams from the Great American Conference. 

The men's team kicked things off as they finished seventh out of twenty-six teams in the Men's 8K Prairie.

William Ramirez led the Crimson Storm with a 24th-place finish and a time of 27:49.3 averaging 05:35.8 a mile in the Men's 8K. Sophomore Kayden Chaparro followed close behind in 26th place with a time of 27:54.7. Sophomore Daniel Ponce finished right behind Chaparro in 27th place with a time of 27:59.5 averaging 05:37.8 a mile. 

The Crimson Storm women followed the men's race and had a good showing finishing eighth out of twenty-three teams in the Women's 5K CC Prairie. 

On the women's side, Junior Isabel Lynch paced the Storm with a 19th place finish out of 188 runners with a time of 19:45.6.  Behind Lynch came Kelsi Hilton in 29th place with a time of 20:27.3 averaging 06.35.0 a mile, while Elora Jones came in next for the Crimson Storm with a time of 21:05.1. 



Crimson Storm Cross Country will be back in action on Saturday, October 26th when they head to the Great American Conference Championships in Ada, Oklahoma.
