Storm Come Up Short in Shawnee

Southern Nazarene falls in four sets at Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hit the road as they traveled to Oklahoma Baptist for their first GAC road test of the season. The Storm dominated at the net, but it was not enough as the Bison claimed the 3-1 victory in Shawnee.

Oklahoma Baptist (7-8, 1-2 GAC) opened up the first set with two quick points. The Storm (3-10, 0-2 GAC) then got on the board after a kill from Emma Grace Moddelmog got their momentum going.

A quick run from SNU allowed them to take an early lead after a kill from Isabella Labrada put the Storm up by one. The two squads traded points from there, before the Bison went on a short run to lead 11-9.

The Storm continued to chip away at the OBU lead, but the Bison went on a 5-0 run to push their lead to 19-13. The Crimson Storm did not back down as Molly Langford powered down a kill and a few Oklahoma Baptist errors put SNU within four.

An OBU kill put the Bison at set point as they utilized a Storm attack error to secure the set one victory, 25-19.

Southern Nazarene looked to even the score as they took an early lead to start the second set. Kate Wright and Riley Richardson teamed up for a few kills to put SNU ahead by one.

Tessa Henry and Langford added some kills pushing the Crimson Storm ahead once more. The Bison responded powering down three kills of their own to tie the score at eight all.

Richardson and Wright continued to pick apart the Bison defense as they tallied a few more kills to keep SNU in the lead. OBU continued to hang around as they took back the lead with an SNU error and a kill.

Whitney Bowie and Labrada tacked on a few more kills to help the Storm regain their lead, 21-20. A few more kills from Wright and Langford sealed the deal for SNU as they took set two, 25-23.

The Bison took an early 5-0 lead to start the third set before a big kill from Wright got Southern Nazarene on the board.

OBU maintained their lead, but the Storm quickly chipped away. After another kill from Wright and a pair of Bison attack errors, SNU tied the score at 17-17.

The two squads continued to trade points from there before the Bison got set point with the Storm trailing by just one. Wright collected yet another kill to even the score 24-24.

An Oklahoma Baptist kill and an SNU attack error was all it took for the Bison to snag a tight set three victory, 26-24.

Bowie opened up the fourth set with a big kill before OBU went on a 5-0 run. The Bison took over from there as they racked up the kills to lead 10-3.

The SNU defense struggled to stop the explosive OBU offense as they powered down three more kills to extend their lead once again.

The Bison continued to be effective at the net as well from behind the service line as they tacked on a few aces as well to lead 24-11 at match point.

The Storm was not done yet, as Bowie and Henry collected kills to trail 24-14. One last kill for OBU finished it off for the Bison as they took set four, 25-14, and the match, 3-1.
