Missouri Western Trips Up the Storm

Crimson Storm fall in three sets to the Griffons in the final game of the SNU/UCO Tournament

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hosted the Griffons of Missouri Western State for their final game of the SNU/UCO Tournament. The Storm struggled to find a rhythm as the Griffons took the 3-0 victory inside the Sawyer Center.

The Griffons (9-2, 0-0 MIAA) jumped out to an early lead after a handful of errors from the Storm (3-8, 0-0 GAC). Missouri Western then added on a few kills to extend their lead, to 11-4.

SNU struggled to get the momentum on their side of the net as the Griffons powered down the kills to lead 15-7. A kill from Whitney Bowie gave the Storm a spark, but MWSU continued to dominate.

A 6-1 run from the Griffons proved costly as they took the first set, 25-12.

The Storm took an early lead in set two after Riley Richardson and Kate Wright teamed up for a pair of kills. A few errors from the Griffons extended the SNU lead once more to 6-2.

Missouri Western continued to linger close behind the Storm but kills from Tessa Henry and Whitney Bowie kept the Storm in front.

A 6-0 run from the Griffons pushed them in front of Southern Nazarene. A 10-1 run followed from MWSU as they took the second set, 25-15.

The Griffons kept rolling as they opened set three with a 10-0 run putting in a hole. A kill from Wright finally got the Crimson Storm on the board, but Missouri Western kept their momentum.

A handful of kills was all it took for Missouri Western to take set three, 25-10, and the match, 3-0.
