Rogers State Hands the Storm Midweek Loss

SNU comes up short in midweek non-conference game with the Hillcats

CLAREMORE, Okla. - Southern Nazarene hit the road to take on Rogers State for a midweek non-conference contest in Claremore. The Hillcats took their second victory over the Storm this time on their home field, 16-0.

Rogers State (22-18, 12-15 GAC) looked to repeat the success they had in Bethany earlier this season as they took down SNU (12-31, 6-21 GAC). The Hillcats only needed seven innings to claim their run-rule win sending the Storm home 0-2 against RSU this season.

Oliver Wilson got the start on the mound for Southern Nazarene as he handed the Hillcats a scoreless first frame. RSU got their bats going in the bottom of the second as they exploded for seven runs.

The Storm looked for a response but struggled to find one as Rogers State handed them another scoreless inning. The Hillcats tacked on another run in the third to extend their lead once more 9-0.

Chase Hudson led off the fourth inning with a double to right but that was all the offense the Storm could come up with. Parker Presley then handed a scoreless inning to the Hillcats looking to find some momentum for SNU.

The Hillcats continued their offensive run in the fifth as they tallied six more runs to jump up to a 14-0 lead. RSU continued to make things difficult at the plate for the Storm as they retired the side to begin the sixth inning.

A double down the right field line plated another run for Rogers State pushing their lead to 16 runs. Looking to avoid a run-rule the Storm was down to their final outs in the top of the seventh.

Tanner Bare led off with a double down the right field line and Sebastian Figga followed with a hit by pitch to put two runners aboard. The Hillcats struck out the next two SNU batters before Blake Brinkmeyer walked to load the bases. RSU was able to record the final out of the contest on a fielder's choice and grab the 16-0 run-rule win over Southern Nazarene.
