Storm Grab Road Win at ECU

SNU Baseball claim their fourth victory of the season over East Central, 9-2

ADA, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hit the road to take on the East Central Tigers for a midweek contest in Ada. The two squads have met five times this season as SNU collected their fourth victory over the Tigers this year, 9-2.

The Storm (10-21, 5-13 GAC) got on the board first thanks to a single up the middle from Trey Orman plated one run. The Storm was able to tack on one more in the first after a passed ball.

Starting pitcher, Jacob Martinez, retired the side to send SNU back to the plate. The Storm took advantage of a wild pitch that brought a runner home once again to stretch the lead to 3-0.

The Tiger (6-27, 3-15 GAC) bats remained quiet as Martinez continued to dominate from the mound. SNU grabbed another run after Blake Brinkmeyer was hit by a pitch extending the lead to 4-0 in the fourth.

ECU finally found their way on the scoreboard after a single up the middle plated just one run. That would be all the damage done by the Tigers as they cut the deficit to three in the bottom of the fifth.

Martinez got one back from the Storm as he blasted a double down the left field line to send Colby Entwistle across home. Brinkmeyer then singled up the middle to send Martinez home, stretching the SNU lead once more. The Storm did not stop there as they snagged one more run off of a bases loaded walk to lead 7-1.

The Tigers looked for a comeback as they added on another run to their score off of a double down the left field line. That would be all that Martinez allowed them to get before Zack Robinson took over on the mound to collect the final out.

Southern Nazarene kept their foot on the gas plating one final run on a single from Dax Edmonds to lead 9-2 going into the bottom half of the ninth. Robinson delivered three quick outs to allow the Storm to claim the midweek victory at East Central.
