EDMOND, Okla.—For the second straight week, the Southern Nazarene Men's Golf team competed in Edmond, this time taking on the Rose Creek Golf Course. The Crimson Storm battled to a sixth place finish, climbing the leaderboard in each round.
Teams faced cold and windy conditions both days as they navigated the challenging course. The Crimson Storm started slow and found themselves at the bottom of the standings after round one, but they bounced back in rounds two and three with solid showings.
SNU shot 305 as a team in round one, but improved in round two, despite the temperatures dropping and the wind picking up. They shot 303 in round two and were the only team to improve their score from round one to round two, allowing them to climb two spots to 7th in the standings. The Storm continued to improve in round three as they finished with 295, tied for the 3rd best team score in the round.
Central Oklahoma won the tournament at 1-over par. They shot a remarkable 7-under as a team in round one as they cruised to the team title. They finished with three players in the top five of the field. North Texas' Simon Roessler won the individual title in a playoff after tying UCO's Jordan Wilson at 3-under for the tournament.
Sam Schmidt was one of three Crimson Storm players to crack the top-30 on the leaderboard. Schmidt finished T-22 after shooting 224 (75-77-72) across three rounds. He was joined in the top-30 by Landon Hendrix and Dawson Dunlap, who tied for 27th. They shot 225 as Hendrix went 78-72-75, while Dunlap went 73-78-74 across his three rounds.
Mason Sebrant finished just outside of the top-30 with a solo 33rd placing. He improved each round as he shot 79-76-74 to total 229 over 54 holes.
Theo Naus rounded out the SNU lineup as he also improved each round. He finished 42nd after totaling 235 (80-79-76) for the tournament.
Jace Black competed as an individual in the tournament. He was just ahead of Naus on the leaderboard at 41st, totaling 234 for the tournament. He tallied 11 birdies and shot a phenomenal 6-under on the par-5s over his three rounds.
