EDMOND, Okla.—Southern Nazarene's first tournament action in one month saw the Crimson Storm take a 15th place finish at the Oak Tree Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Christian.
SNU played the par-70, 7,116 yard three-round tournament to a 945 (+105) as a team. They were just 12 strokes off a top-10 finish. The Storm were in 12th place after two rounds, but a 324 in round three dropped them three spots in the final round.
UCO won the tournament at 883 (+43) as a team. They used a phenomenal 280 (E) second round to propel them to the top of the standings and claim a team title. UT Tyler's Seth Campbell won the individual title by 4 strokes with an even tournament at 210.
Southern Nazarene was led by the duo of Sam Schmidt and Mason Sebrant. The two tied for 40th on the individual leaderboard as they each finished with a three-round total of 231. Sebrant was great on the par-5s in the tournament. He shot 3-under on the long holes, which was top-5 in the entire field.
Dawson Dunlap took a T-72 finish after shooting 241 over three rounds. He followed an 81 in round one with a 78 in round two, and an 82 in round three.
Jace Black was not far behind Dunlap with a T-79 finish. He shot 244 after going 83-74-87 across the three rounds.
Luke Woods rounded out the SNU lineup. He placed 88th after totaling 252 in the tournament.
Southern Nazarene will be back in action next week for the Broncho Invitational, hosted by UCO at the Rose Creek Golf Course. SNU had a great showing with a 7th place finish at the Broncho Invitational last year.
