BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned home to the Sawyer Center to host rival Oklahoma Baptist. The Storm looked to get back on track after being handed their first loss of the season earlier this week. SNU did just that, dominating OBU 75-53.
The Crimson Storm (22-1, 16-1 GAC) decided to make a statement as they made their way back into the win column against the Bison (9-14, 6-11 GAC) for the second time this season. Southern Nazarene took down Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee earlier this year collecting the 63-46 victory. The Storm offense was nearly untouchable as they shot 50% from beyond the arc and 45.8% from the field. SNU tallied 13 total long balls which marked the most by the Storm this season.Â
Southern Nazarene took an early lead of 5-4 after a three from
Lauryn Reither sparked the hot SNU offense. OBU responded with three of their own to capture the early lead.
Emily Monaghan sank back-to-back threes of her own to get the Storm back in front while tallying her 1,000th career point.Â
SNU continued to tack on the points including an
Abbie Jiles three to lead Oklahoma Baptist 22-11. Reither tacked two free throws to stretch the Crimson Storm lead before the end of quarter one. The Bison would hit the final shot of the quarter trailing 24-13.Â
The Storm opened the third quarter with a layup from
Hannah Giddey and a Monaghan steal and bucket. This pushed SNU's lead to 28-15. A few OBU buckets put the Bison within five before
Jillian Crawford hit a pull-up jumper to stretch the Southern Nazarene lead once more.
Carley Gasaway kept the scoring frenzy going hitting back-to-back three balls to push the SNU lead to 13. Crawford then tacked on her own three to continue the offensive spree and claim the 39-28 lead going into halftime.
Jiles opened the second half at the free throw line knocking down one shot. The Bison cut the SNU lead to 10 just before Jiles hit another three.
Hannah Giddey went to work in the paint to put the Storm ahead 52-40.Â
Reither laid in one final bucket as did the Bison to end the third quarter. The Storm remained in control leading Oklahoma Baptist 54-41 going into the final quarter of the contest.
Southern Nazarene took the first shot of the fourth quarter as Jiles sank yet another long ball. Giddey continued her work in the paint for the Storm to push the lead to 59-43. Jiles hit her sixth three-ball to increase the SNU lead once more.Â
The Bison kept at it, adding in points here and there. Crawford delivered yet another three to keep OBU at bay. Both squads began to clear the bench as the final minutes ran off the clock. The Storm claimed the rival victory over the Bison 75-35 to get back into the win column.
Jiles led the Storm offensively collecting a career-high 25 points. Giddey tacked on her eleventh double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Monaghan also saw double-digit scoring pouring in 10 points.Â

The Crimson Storm will host the East Central Tigers on Saturday, February 17th for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff. SNU will meet the Tigers for the second time this season looking to collect the season sweep over the Tigers.
