Crimson Storm Pick Up Win in Alva

Men's Basketball earns third consecutive GAC victory over the Rangers, 77-60

ALVA, Okla. - The Crimson Storm headed up the road to take on the Rangers of Northwestern Oklahoma State for their first GAC road test of the season. The SNU offense continued to shine as they took down the Rangers 77-60 in Alva.

The buckets continued to fall for Southern Nazarene (6-1, 3-0 GAC) Thursday evening as they shot 56% from the field against NWOSU (4-5, 1-2 GAC). The SNU offense was led by junior Bam Johnson as he had himself a career night in the SNU uniform with 27 points.

The Storm got on the board first thanks to an early trip to the charity stripe for James Burries. He knocked down two shots to get SNU on the board first. Northwestern answered, but a three from Stevie Strong put the Storm in front 7-5.

The two squads went back and forth from there, but the Ranges took advantage of a three point play thanks to an SNU foul to take the lead 17-14. Timur Krupalija answered back with a bucket, cutting the deficit to one. Another bucket from Krupalija knotted up the score at 20 all with 8:33 left to play in the first half.

A clutch three from Bam Johnson kept the Crimson Storm in front, but NWOSU continued to have a response for every SNU bucket. Southern Nazarene found an offensive spark going on a 6-0 run to lead 31-24 with just under five minutes left in the first half. A few late free throws and two more buckets from Johnson secured the halftime lead for SNU, 28-33, at the break.
The Storm picked up right where they left off after the break as Johnson knocked down another three. The Storm continued to work in the paint before Jeremy Golson got going, collecting his first three of the night to push the SNU lead to 48-41.

Southern Nazarene continued to tack on the points before Golson hit another shot from beyond the arc extending the Storm lead once more. Colby Henderson got in on the scoring, notching a three of his own to push the Storm ahead 67-48 with 8:35 left on the clock.

Henderson went on to hit another three just a few minutes later giving the Storm their largest lead of the night, 22 points. The Rangers continued to chip away at the SNU lead, but a few trips to the charity stripe for the Storm allowed them to maintain their lead. Northwestern was able to sneak in one final bucket before the clock ran out and the Crimson Storm secured the 77-60 victory in Alva.
