Storm Offense Dominates in Victory Over the Rangers

Crimson Storm earn crucial win on the road against Northwestern Oklahoma State

ALVA, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hit the road to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State in a Monday matchup. The Crimson Storm offense dominated at the net taking the match 3-1 in Alva.

The Storm (9-17, 5-8 GAC) set the tone early as Kate Wright and Riley Richardson teamed up for a pair of kills. The Rangers (13-12, 7-6 GAC) responded shortly after cutting the SNU lead. The two squads battled from there as they traded points.

Back to back kills from NWOSU gave them the 12-9 lead, but the Storm continued to hang around. Kills from Wright and Molly Langford put SNU back in front, 18-17. Wright continued to dominate tacking on another kill to go alongside a service ace to extend the Crimson Storm lead.

Whitney Bowie and Rayanna Mauldin teamed up for a few kills, giving SNU set point. One final kill from Wright sealed the deal for SNU as they took set one, 25-22.

Set two was another battle as the Crimson Storm took an early 4-3 lead after a kill from Langford. NWOSU responded  with a small run to take the lead, 9-7. The two squads continued to trade points from there. The Rangers continued to tack on the points pushing their lead to 15-11.

A 4-0 run from the Storm tied the score at 15 all, but the Rangers responded with a run of their own. Kills from Raegan Strickland and Kate Wright alongside an ace from Mauldin tied the score once again this time at 21-21. Northwestern finished off the set with a 4-0 run to take the set, 25-21.

The Crimson Storm struck early in the third set taking an 8-2 lead. The Storm continued to pour in the kills as Wright, Mauldin, and Riley Richardson notched one a piece to stretch the SNU lead. That was the beginning of a 7-1 run which gave the Crimson Storm all the momentum.

The Storm continued to dominate at the net as Bowie notched a kill for set point. Richardson powered down the last kill needed to give SNU the third set, 25-17.

Wright opened the fourth set with a service ace before the Rangers tacked on a few points. Another ace and kill from Wright pushed SNU back in front, 6-4. From there the Storm did not let up putting together an  8-0 run.
