Crimson Storm Locks in Third Win Over Angelo State, 67-54

SNU Storms Past Angelo State

BETHANY, Okla.- The Southern Nazarene Women's Basketball team returned to the Sawyer Center with purpose, to secure a 67-54 win over Angelo State.

SNU (3-3, 0-0 GAC)  wasted no time setting the tone in the first quarter. Jena Bay got things rolling with back to back buckets in the paint, both assisted by Hannah Giddey, who was all over the court early on. Jordan Hoffman joined the action with a smooth three pointer, also assisted by Giddey. The Storm's defense kept Angelo State (2-3, 0-1 LSC) off balance, ending the quarter with an 11-5 lead.

The second quarter saw the Crimson Storm turn it up a little bit. Bay continued her scoring spree with a layup and a three pointer, with Katie King assisting on the shot. Braci Nyberg added to the momentum with a layup of her own. Angelo State then found a spark from Majik Esquivel, but the Storm's balanced attack kept the Rambelles playing catch up. By halftime, Southern Nazarene was in control, leading 32-17.

ASU came out fighting in the third quarter, but SNU held their ground. Katie King drove to the basket for a layup, and Nyberg added a jumper. Madeline Stephens chipped in with free throws for Angelo State, but the Storm maintained their lead, heading into the final quarter up 50-39.

In the fourth, the Storm refused to let up. Umi Otsuka drilled a clutch three pointer, and Bay continued her dominance inside. On defense, Giddey came up big with a block and an impressive rebound, helping SNU. Katie King closed things out with a jumper to seal the 67-54 victory.

Jena Bay led the Storm with 23 points, a career high, while Katie King and Jordan Hoffman each added 10 points.
