Storm Fall on the Road at Southwestern Oklahoma State

The Bulldogs sweep Southern Nazarene in Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Okla. - The Crimson Storm hit the road to take on the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs dominated in three straight sets as they took the match, 3-0, over SNU.

The Bulldogs(16-7, 11-1 GAC) took control early jumping out to a quick 4-0 lead. Kate right powered down a kill to get the Crimson Storm (8-17, 4-8 GAC). SNU worked to chip away at their early deficit as Whitney Bowie and Rayanna Mauldin teamed up for a pair of kills to trail 10-7.

SWOSU then put the pressure on the Storm making a 5-1 run to stretch their lead. The Storm tacked on a few more kills this time from Molly Langford and Mauldin to cut the SWOSU lead to 18-14. Bowie and Mauldin then went to work at the net again, continuing to chip away at the Bulldogs' lead.

A 4-0 run from SWOSU gave them set point, but SNU was not done yet. Three kills from Wright and a Southwestern error put the Storm within three. The Bulldogs then notched the final kill needed to claim set one,

Southwestern took another early lead to begin set two, 9-4. They continued to tack on the kills to then push their lead to 14-8. Wright powered down a kill before the Bulldogs went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead once again.

Tatum Smith and Wright both tacked on a kill to go alongside an ace from Emma Grace Moddelmog to keep the Crimson Storm alive. Southwestern shut down all the SNU momentum with a 5-1 run to take the second set, 25-13.

Southern Nazarene looked to stay alive taking an early lead thanks to kills from Mauldin and Smith. Bowie then got in on the action tacking on a pair of kills and a service ace to give the Storm a 10-7 lead.

A costly 5-0 run from the Bulldogs allowed them to take the driver's seat. They continued to maintain control putting together a 8-2 run to lead 21-15. The Bulldogs closed it out with one final kill to take the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-0.
