Crimson Storm Fall Short at Southern Arkansas

The Storm falls short at Southern Arkansas, 49-21

MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Crimson Storm traveled to Southern Arkansas for a mid-day matchup with the Muleriders. The Storm took on a tough SAU squad who took the victory 49-21 over Southern Nazarene.

The Muleriders (4-1, 4-1 GAC) got on the board early after they put together 7 plays for just 20 yards to find the endzone first. The SNU (0-5, 0-5 GAC) offense looked for a response but came up short at the SNU43.

Southern Arkansas kept their momentum going after they took over on the SNU13. The Muleriders were able to put together a 12-play drive to march down the field and double their lead with just 4:07 left on the clock in the first quarter.

The second quarter proved to be more defensive as the Crimson Storm forced a turnover on downs to the Muleriders. SNU was unable to string together a drive of their own, but SAU responded with their next possession.

SAU found the endzone once again after a 3-yard rush pushed their lead to 21-0. A fumble kick return for the Storm was recovered by the Muleriders allowing them to take back over on offense at the SNU26.

The Southern Nazarene defense held Southern Arkansas there leaving the scoreboard to read 21-0 at halftime.

After the break, the Muleriders picked up right where they left off as they marched down the field for 75 yards to find the endzone once again extending their lead to 28-0.

This time the Crimson Storm had a response as Bryson Evans found Braxton Burd for an 83-yard reception and a touchdown to get SNU on the board.

The Storm defense went back to work forcing a turnover on downs at the SAU34. SNU was able to find the endzone once again, as Evans rushed one in to make the score, 35-14.

Southern Arkansas tacked on another score of their own with just 1:34 left to play in the third quarter, to lead 42-14.

The Muleriders kept the pressure in the final quarter of the contest as they made an 89-yard drive for a touchdown to extend their lead once again.

Southern Nazarene had some fight left in them as Evans rushed his way into the endzone once again to trail, 49-21.

With just two minutes left to play neither offense was able to score again, leaving the Muleriders victorious in Magnolia, 49-21.
