Crimson Storm Come Up Short Against the Reddies

SNU tripped up by a tough Henderson State in Bethany

BETHANY, Okla. - The Crimson Storm returned to the SNU Football Stadium to host Henderson State. A late run from the Storm was not enough as the Reddies snagged the 48-21 victory in Bethany.

Henderson State (5-1, 5-1 GAC) took advantage of their first possession putting together three plays to find the endzone and take the lead 7-0.

The Storm (0-6, 0-6 GAC) looked for a response, but the Reddies forced a quick three-and-out. The SNU defense responded by stopping Henderson at the SNU12, forcing them to kick a field goal. The field goal was no good, turning the ball back over to the Storm.

The Southern Nazarene offense was unable to get on the board after the Reddies stopped them on three plays once again.

HSU then extended their lead on a 67-yard drive to go ahead 13-0 after missing the extra point.

The Reddies tacked on one final touchdown taking advantage of a Crimson Storm fumble at the SNU20. With the extra point, HSU extended their lead to 20-0.

The second quarter was all Henderson State as they opened up with a 14-yard run into the endzone, pushing them ahead once more. Shortly after, they put together a 55-yard drive to find the endzone once again to lead 34-0 at the half.

Southern Nazarene looked to respond and did just that thanks to a 41-yard run from quarterback Bryson Evans to get SNU on the board. An extra point from Kameron Van Prooyen made the score, 34-7.

Henderson State continued to dominate offensively going right down the field on nine plays utilizing a 62-yard pass to find the endzone once again to make their lead, 41-7.

The Reddies tacked on one more touchdown in their final possession of the third quarter putting together just six plays to find the endzone.

SNU responded in the final minutes of the quarter after running back Kaden Barron made a 66-yard run into the endzone to double the Crimson Storm's score.

The fourth quarter was a defensive battle as both squads struggled to get any sort of offense going. The Storm took advantage of their final drive as Evans connected with Evan Rader for a 33-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left in the contest. Van Prooyen hit another extra point making the score 48-21.

Henderson took over at the HSU33 as they let the clock run down claiming the victory in Bethany.
